Maasai Mara - Hyenas

In August 2026 I had the opportunity to go to the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. I was hosted by the Mara Hyena Project, which has been observing Spotted Hyenas in this region since 1988. I finally got to see the hyenas that I am studying and the environment that they live in. I also had a great time staying in the research camps and joining the research assistants on their daily observation drives.

Konstanz

My institute is based in Konstanz, right at the border with Switzerland on the shore of Lake Constance. The lake and the surrounding nature areas are beautiful, and especially in the summer months it feels like you’re on vacation here.
